The Judgement of B.C. wrapped up last week closing out an annual event that has been running for five years, comparing B.C. wines against “benchmark” labels (by price) from around the world. It was never quite best against best but a useful exercise nonetheless to see just where we stand against the competition.

I’m pretty sure that Judgment of BC 2019 was one of the largest tastings of its kind ever held in Canada. On October 29th 34 judges sat down at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. We concluded what’s been a worthy exercise for BC wines since the first ‘Judgment’ took place in 2015.

PENTICTON, BC - The Wines of British Columbia were put to the ultimate test at the final Judgment of BC on Tuesday, October 29, where special guest and wine expert Steven Spurrier joined 32 top wine professionals from around the world and across the country to take part in a full-day, blind tasting of 24 of BC's celebrated grape varieties; Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah against 16 international benchmarks.
