CELEBRATE BC DAY: 10 WINES FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA

In British Columbia, the first Monday in August is a public holiday commemorating the province’s heritage. This past weekend, Michaela Morris marked the occasion by raising a delicious glass of BC wine to toast the province's hardworking producers (as well as the firefighters who are tirelessly toiling to stem the flames).  Check out Michaela's 10 wine recommendations that demonstrate the diversity of styles that British Columbia’s unique terroir has to offer.

2018 Riesling gets press in the Globe and Mail!

Another great write up! This time, in the Globe and Mail featuring a handful of wines that Christopher Waters says "stood out in recent tastings", one of which is Tightrope Winery's 2018 Riesling! Lynsday O'Rourke has been getting quite a lot of attention drawn to her Rieslings of late, and they speak for themselves with regards to the level of quality BC Riesling can bring to our dinner tables.

Here are Christopher's tasting notes... "Tightrope’s house style is to make a refreshing expression of riesling with some sweetness to balance the grape variety’s naturally high acidity. Made from estate-grown grapes on the Naramata Bench in the Okanagan, which were picked in two separate lots about one week apart to add complexity, this offers an attractive fruit salad suggesting green apple, grapefruit and white peach with a clean, fresh finish. Drink now to 2025. Available direct through. tightropewinery.ca."

For the time being, we are offering FREE SHIPPING on orders of 6bot+ with the promo code ShiptoSip !!

...and remember, everything happens for a Riesling

Judgement of BC Wraps Up

Judgement of BC Wraps Up
By: Anthony Gismondi

The Judgement of B.C. wrapped up last week closing out an annual event that has been running for five years, comparing B.C. wines against “benchmark” labels (by price) from around the world. It was never quite best against best but a useful exercise nonetheless to see just where we stand against the competition.

The Last Judgement of BC: a Watershed Moment

The "Last Judgement of BC": a Watershed Moment
By: Tim Pawsey

I’m pretty sure that Judgment of BC 2019 was one of the largest tastings of its kind ever held in Canada. On October 29th 34 judges sat down at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. We concluded what’s been a worthy exercise for BC wines since the first ‘Judgment’ took place in 2015.

Is diversity the long game in British Columbian wine?

Salut: Is diversity the long game in British Columbian wine?
By: Anthony Gismondi

Demanding diversity in our wines and obtaining it are often two very different stories, especially in the New World. As the years unfold, British Columbia wineries are finally moving in the direction although it's not necessarily just about different grapes going into the ground.

Wines of Canada - Discover the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia - Grape Experiences

Wines of Canada - Discover the Okanagan Valley in British Columibia - Grape Experiences
By: Cindy Rynning

The only time I’ve visited the Okanagan Valley wine region in British Columbia was during a conference in 2013. I had the opportunity to visit wineries that were (and still are) producing beautiful selections in breathtaking settings. I’ve longed to return.
